Anastrozole is an oral medication used as an adjuvant treatment for postmenopausal women with early breast cancer that has hormone receptor-positive cells. It is a selective, non-steroidal aromatase inhibitor that significantly reduces serum estradiol levels and has no effect on the production of adrenal corticosteroids or aldosterone.
